Why SIPG for CNC Manufacturing?

Why Illawarra Businesses Are Switching to SIPG for Custom Manufacturing?

Most CNC jobs in the Wollongong region end up on a truck to Sydney. That means longer lead times, higher freight costs, and zero ability to walk into the workshop and check progress on a Thursday afternoon. We changed that.

SIPG operates from our purpose-built facility at 38/10 Sylvester Avenue, Unanderra — fifteen minutes from Wollongong CBD, ten minutes from Port Kembla's industrial precinct, and accessible to every suburb from Helensburgh to Kiama. When your machine breaks down at 7am and you need a replacement bracket by lunchtime, the part doesn't need to survive a two-hour trip down the M1. It needs to come from us.

The difference is simple: we're local, we're fast, and we don't cut corners — only materials.

Illawarra CNC
Six Materials. Unlimited Possibilities.

Our Services That We Provide

Every project has different demands. A food-grade stainless steel fitting for a Wollongong dairy processor requires a completely different approach than an acrylic display component for a Shellharbour retailer. That is why we invested in the capability to machine across six distinct material categories, so you never have to split your job across multiple suppliers.

Plastic

Ideal for electrical insulators, wear-resistant bushings, chemical-resistant fittings, and lightweight housing components. We work with HDPE, nylon, UHMWPE, Delrin, PTFE, and more. If your facility in Port Kembla needs a corrosion-proof valve seat machined to spec, this is where it starts.

CNC Plastic

Timber

From precision-routed signage and architectural joinery details to custom jigs and furniture components, our CNC routing delivers clean edges and repeatable accuracy that hand tools simply cannot match. Popular with Illawarra builders, cabinetmakers, and fit-out contractors who need consistency across large runs.

CNC Timber

Acrylic

Crystal-clear or coloured, acrylic machines beautifully when handled correctly and catastrophically when it isn't. Our feeds, speeds, and tooling are dialled in specifically for acrylic to deliver polished edges without cracking, crazing, or melting. Perfect for retail displays, protective screens, signage, lighting diffusers, and building.

CNC Acrylic

Aluminium

The workhorse of lightweight custom manufacturing. We machine aluminium plates, brackets, enclosures, heat sinks, mounting frames, and structural components for industries ranging from marine and automotive to telecommunications and renewable energy. If you are building something that needs to be strong, light, and corrosion-resistant, aluminium is it.

CNC Aluminium

Mild Steel

When strength and cost-effectiveness matter more than weight, mild steel delivers. We produce brackets, base plates, structural supports, machine parts, and custom fittings for Illawarra construction firms, manufacturers, and maintenance teams who need durable components without the premium of exotic
alloys.

CNC Mild Steel

Stainless Steel

The gold standard for hygiene-critical, marine-grade, and high-temperature applications. We machine 304 and 316 grade stainless for food processing equipment, medical fixtures, coastal architectural hardware, and industrial plant components. If your Wollongong project demands a material that won't rust, stain, or compromise under pressure, stainless is the choice.

Our Process

From Your Idea to a Finished Part in Four Simple Steps. We deliberately built our CNC workflow to be fast, transparent, and frustration-free. You do not need to be an engineer to order from us, you just need to know what you want.

1

Send Us Your Design or Idea

Upload a CAD file (DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, or PDF with dimensions), sketch it on the back of a napkin and photograph it, or simply describe what you need over the phone. We work with whatever you have. Our team will clarify dimensions, material selection, tolerances, and finish requirements before anything touches the machine..

1.
2

Receive Your Quote

We provide a clear, itemised quote — typically within 24 hours for standard jobs. You will see the material cost, machining time, and any finishing or post-processing charges laid out transparently. No hidden fees. No surprises when the invoice arrives.

2.
3

We Machine Your Parts

Once you approve the quote, your job enters our production schedule. Standard turnaround is 3 to 5 business days for most jobs. Need it faster? We offer priority and same-day machining for urgent requests — because we understand that a production line in Port Kembla does not stop to wait for a purchase order to clear.

3.
4

Collect or We Deliver

Pick up from our Unanderra workshop, or we deliver across Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, the Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven, and beyond. For industrial clients on scheduled maintenance contracts, we can hold stock and dispatch on call.

Frequently Ask Questions

CNC Manufacturing FAQ — Wollongong & The Illawarra

  • Do I need to provide a CAD file to get a quote?

No. While CAD files (DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES) speed up the process, we regularly work from hand sketches, PDFs with dimensions, photographs of existing parts, or even a physical sample you drop off at our Unanderra workshop. We will help translate your idea into a machinable design.

  • What is your minimum order quantity?

There is no minimum. We machine single prototypes with the same care as production batches. Whether you need one part or one thousand, the pricing is transparent and the quality is identical.

  • How quickly can you turn around an urgent job?

Standard turnaround is 3 to 5 business days. For genuine emergencies — a production line down, a critical repair, a deadline that cannot move — we offer same-day and next-day priority machining. Call us directly on 0487 504 662 and we will tell you exactly what is possible.

  • What tolerances can you achieve?

This depends on the material and geometry, but for most metals we hold tolerances of ±0.1mm as standard. Tighter tolerances are achievable on request — just let us know your requirements at the quoting stage.

  • Can you source the material for me?

Yes. We maintain stock of commonly used plastics, aluminium, mild steel, and stainless steel grades. For specialist materials or large-volume orders, we source through our established Illawarra and national supply network and pass on competitive pricing.

  • Can you help with reverse engineering a broken or discontinued part?

Absolutely. Bring us the original part — even if it is broken, worn, or corroded — and we will measure, model, and machine a replacement. This is one of our most requested services from industrial maintenance teams across Port Kembla and the wider Illawarra.
